What is the cost of living in Sofia, Bulgaria

What is the cost of living in Sofia, Bulgaria?
I have an opportunity to go for 2 months in Sofia, Bulgaria, from next March but I have to find my own accommodation. I'd like to know if it is easy to find a good accommodation there, for how much and if we can easily get modern services such as broadband Internet access and international cable TV. Also, how is Sofia regarding entertainment and places to go?

I don't know a thing about Bulgaria but have been intrigued with that country for years now. I wanted to wish you the best with your upcoming adventure. With my Dad's family in Hungary, i've been spending time there for the past 20 years. ONe day I hope to visit Bulgaria and Romania. Do your research, the way you're doing, and enjoy your time there :)

These modern services are available and prices are generally less than those in America. I believe that you can get cable TV for 15 levs a month. I'm not sure about the internet. For accommodation, I would recommed that you rent an apartment from a private owner. It is commonly done.

It's very easy to find a hotel. TV's are about 250 to 300 levs and cable costs about 12 levs a month. Broadband is unavailable in most places, you have to go to a computer hall or zala(in bulgarian). Sofia is not very exciting, you should visit Veliko Turnovo, Bg's old capital.

I lived in Sofia for 10 years. It is easy to find a place to live, this is a good place to start looking for appartment: imot.bg If you find a place in the metro area, fast internet is not a problem as well as cable. About night life, depending on what you enjoy there is pretty much everyting. It is a very lively city.

If you will spend 2 months there, you can rent an appartment, because hotel will be too expensive. You will probably easily find one with cable TV and Internet. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes, night clubs and shopping as well. I'm pretty sure you will love it. Don't stay in Sofia only, visit Veliko Tarnovo, one of the best cities. Good luck!

Hello from Bulgaria! This is the country's official website of tourism: http://www.bulgariatravel.org/ And these are two other useful sites about Sofia: http://www.sofia.bg and http://www.sofia.com/ Sofia is a modern city with population near 1.5 million. There are ALL kind of accomodations, venue of entertainment, facilities, etc. here. However, you may save time and nerves if you have a local to help you at the beginning. Good luck!
